it could be really fun but the keys that have been preselected to use are so random that it deterred from the game. and i was unable to change which letters i wanted to go side to side or turn the piece.

I've been playing Tetris a really long time and am selective about the versions I use. I've played this a lot and am growing frustrated with it as it has a tendency to give you a string of the same pieces in a row (eg, I've had 9 or 10 squares one after the other) which can make play very difficult and very irritating.
