PapayaMobile is a start-up company. The two founders met at the Computer Science Department of Tsinghua University in Beijing. After university, one of the founders, a self-described "mobile geek", started his own mobile network gaming company. The other founder continued her studies at Stanford and then worked on mobile applications at Google for several years in Mountain View, California. During her frequent travels between Silicon Valley and China, she always wished her mobile phone could be more "useful" than it is.

The two friends decided to team up to develop a mobile program/network to help people around the world better communicate with each other. Thus was born PapayaMobile!
