ODESYS themselves ADMIT that Al cheats in the last sentence where they write..." I promise that when you manage a rating of above 1500 or so, over time, the AI will suddenly stop "cheating" as much."
response to my letter of complaint...
Thank you for writing to us. I understand your frustration. Every Backgammon player knows how it feels to lose an otherwise won game due to a couple of lucky rolls. It is a part of the game. Here is an observation to consider though. People tend to feel lucky when the roll goes their way and cheated when it does not.
Can you imagine how frustrating the situation is for us? People leave reviews accusing the game of cheating with no proof at all, and as a result damage its reputation. I will say that for what it's worth. The game plays fair, the roll is as random as the system random number generator and the AI has no ability whatsoever to influence the outcome of the roll.
Yes, the AI has several very specific weaknesses. It is currently about as strong as an average Backgammon player, meaning an average player should win about 50% of their matches on Hard. We can improve it further and make it stronger, but why would we? Can you imagine the kind of reviews it would get?
Have you tried playing online? Just go to Menu->Options, change the Game to Online and enter your FIBS username and password in the respective fields. Let me know if you need any help setting it up. Please give it a try and let me know how you feel about it. The dice is rolled by the FIBS server when playing online. I promise that when you manage a rating of above 1500 or so, over time, the AI will suddenly stop "cheating" as much.
Best regards,
Odesys, LLC
[Admin: It was nice of Odesys to give a response. I think what they meant is that when you get better, you'll realize that the game is not actually cheating - perhaps not the politest thing to say! I don't know what the truth is, but we have a Backgammon game from a different developer that gets WAY more complaints about the computer cheating.]

Have to agree with Joe from San Fran... Have even written Odesys about this... It is the type of frustration that leads to user frustration & could even cause users to break/throw their devices... Have written the following...
To: wireless@odesys.com
You have written a nice Backgammon game, but have torpedoed it from a commercial perspective by making Al cheat to high hell.
You should be aware of the number of people out there that are soo frustrated that they throw/break their Mobiles because Al ALWAYS:
* rolls doubles consecutively, especially when he is behind.
* always rolls numbers to land on each of your individual pieces, yet you VERY RARELY land on his individuals
* always manages (on the first roll) to enter his pieces even though you cover 4/5ths of the zone (& the opposite is true for you... even if Al covers only one position, you will be blocked.
a shame. I would have bought it, but would rather warn all of the forums agains destroying their own phones in frustration.

don't upgrade. The paid version is not worth playing because the computer cheats terribly! it rolls all the rolls it needs to win - everytime! It seems to cheat more the longer you play (on hard level anyway). so although lite is too easy - the paid version is a waste of time! Sorry.
