OVERVIEW

The 5ud0ku Midlet is a J2ME game providing Sudoku puzzles (Number Place puzzle) for your java enabled mobile phone or PDA.

From Wikipedia's SuDoku:

'The aim of the canonical puzzle is to enter a numerical digit from 1 through 9 in each cell of a 9×9 grid made up of 3×3 subgrids (called "regions"), starting with various digits given in some cells (the "givens"). Each row, column, and region must contain only one instance of each numeral. Completing the puzzle requires patience and logical ability.'

MOTIVATION

For Sudoku quite a lot generators, solvers and helpers exist. There are also some good J2ME Midlets. The 5ud0ku Midlet is designed to match to ivonne's and case's player natures and it is free of charge. Most preferred of the features are the pencil mark support and the colored display of the numbers.

Some of the current features have been suggested or even implemented (especially by Vlad) by people around the world and I am happy, that there is so valuable feedback from the community!

love that i can enter puzzles from the paper or wherever...cursor freezes if you use other phone features and then go back.

Great game, and really free. A lot of the games listed here are free, but require air time, which I have to pay for. I wish the site had a way to filter only the games that don't require air time- like this marvelous 5ud0ku game.

This is an excellent game, with well-thought out features ("Calculate pencilmarks" is genius!) My only complaint is a nitpick-it's not a native Blackberry app, so its menus don't act like normal Blackberry menus. This is to be expected with a generic Java application, though. No points were deducted in my review for that.

finally a free game that works! i recommend turning on numlock (alt left-shift). there are ocassional beeps when you open menus, but otherwise no backgound music or anything.
